Alliant Pharmaceuticals was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, that focused on the pediatric and adult specialty markets. The company specialized in the development and commercialization of central nervous system (CNS) therapies, most notably for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Its lead product portfolio included Methylin (methylphenidate hydrochloride) in various oral formulations such as liquid and chewable tablets. In 2005, Alliant was acquired by Sciele Pharma for approximately $122 million. This acquisition significantly bolstered Sciele's presence in the pediatric and ADHD therapeutic sectors.
