Allied Chemical

Allied Chemical was a major American chemical company and a long-standing constituent of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Founded in 1920 as the Allied Chemical & Dye Corporation, it was formed through the merger of five leading chemical firms, including the General Chemical Company and the Solvay Process Company. The company became a global leader in the production of industrial chemicals, synthetic fibers, and dyes, providing essential precursors for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. In 1985, it merged with the Signal Companies to form AlliedSignal, which subsequently acquired Honeywell in 1999 and adopted the Honeywell name. Today, its legacy continues within Honeywell's specialty chemicals and advanced materials divisions, which serve various life science applications.
