AlliedSignal

AlliedSignal was a major American industrial conglomerate formed in 1985 through the merger of Allied Corporation and the Signal Companies. While primarily recognized for its leadership in the aerospace and automotive sectors, the company maintained a significant presence in the life sciences industry through its Specialty Chemicals division. Its Pharmaceutical Fine Chemicals unit was a key global supplier of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and advanced intermediates for drug manufacturers. The company also produced high-performance engineered materials, such as Spectra fiber, which are used in various medical device and surgical applications. In 1999, AlliedSignal acquired Honeywell for $15 billion and adopted the Honeywell name for the merged entity.
