Allostera Pharma

Allostera Pharma was a Montreal-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of allosteric modulators for therapeutic targets. The company's platform focused on identifying small peptides that bind to allosteric sites on receptors, such as the Interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor, to provide more specific and safer therapeutic effects compared to traditional orthosteric inhibitors. Its lead candidate, AL-101, was developed for inflammatory conditions including dry eye disease and osteoarthritis. In 2010, Allostera was acquired by Mimetogen Pharmaceuticals, which integrated Allostera's IL-1 receptor technology into its own ophthalmology-focused pipeline.
