Company intelligence / Profile preview
Alltranz was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Lexington, Kentucky, that specialized in the development of transdermal drug delivery systems. Founded in 2004, the company focused on utilizing proprietary pro-drug and permeation enhancement technologies to deliver medications through the skin, particularly those with poor oral bioavailability or significant side effects. Its primary research efforts were directed toward cannabinoid-based therapies, including transdermal formulations of cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol. These programs were designed to treat a variety of conditions such as epilepsy, fragile X syndrome, and chronic pain. In 2014, Alltranz was acquired by Zynerba Pharmaceuticals, which integrated the Alltranz technology and pipeline into its own operations. The acquisition laid the groundwork for Zynerba's subsequent clinical trials in neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders.
