Company intelligence / Profile preview
Alpha Therapeutic Corporation was a prominent global biopharmaceutical company specializing in the development and manufacture of plasma-derived therapies. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Los Angeles, the company was a major supplier of essential blood products, including coagulation factors for hemophilia, immune globulins, and albumin. Its key products included Profilate, Profilnine, and Aralast, the latter being a critical treatment for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. Following significant legal and regulatory challenges related to contaminated blood products in the 1980s and 1990s, the company's assets were acquired by Baxter International and Grifols in the early 2000s. Today, many of its original therapies continue to be marketed by the acquiring entities.
