Alsonex

Alsonex is a Brisbane-based biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel treatments for neurodegenerative diseases by targeting neuroinflammation. Founded in 2014 as a spin-out from the University of Queensland, the company's research centers on the modulation of the innate immune system, specifically the complement cascade. Its lead candidate, ALS-205 (also known as PMX205), is an orally active, brain-penetrant cyclic peptide that acts as a selective antagonist of the C5a1 receptor (C5aR1). ALS-205 has completed Phase Ib clinical trials for Motor Neuron Disease (MND/ALS) and is being evaluated for other indications including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases.
