Overview
AltA-ZuZ Therapeutics was an Israeli preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The company's lead candidate, GT-73 (also known as compound 12), is a potent, non-toxic, covalent blocker of Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (PECAM-1/CD31) designed to inhibit the transendothelial migration of immune cells. In preclinical animal models, GT-73 demonstrated significant therapeutic efficacy in multiple conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)/Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Despite promising preclinical data and GLP toxicity profiles, the company has since been liquidated.
