Altavant Sciences was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapies for rare respiratory diseases. The company's lead program, rodatristat ethyl, is an orally administered tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) inhibitor designed to reduce peripheral serotonin production, a key driver in the progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Originally founded as a subsidiary of Roivant Sciences, Altavant was part of the 2019 strategic alliance with Sumitomo Pharma and was subsequently integrated into Sumitomo Pharma America in 2023. The company's pipeline also included early-stage programs targeting other rare respiratory conditions such as sarcoidosis.
