Company intelligence / Profile preview
Altrus was a medical technology company that developed the Altrus Thermal Tissue Fusion System, an innovative electrosurgical platform for vessel sealing and tissue fusion. The system utilized a proprietary feedback-controlled energy delivery mechanism to create permanent, high-strength seals in vessels up to 7mm in diameter while minimizing lateral thermal damage. This technology was designed to improve surgical outcomes and efficiency in general, gynecological, and urological procedures. In 2007, Altrus was acquired by ConMed Corporation for approximately $12 million plus future milestones, and its technology was subsequently integrated into ConMed's electrosurgical product line.
