Ambrilia Biopharma was a Canadian biotechnology company focused on the development of innovative therapeutics for oncology and infectious diseases, particularly HIV/AIDS. The company was formed through the merger of Procyon Biopharma and Ambrilia, inheriting a pipeline that included protease inhibitors and peptide-based formulations. Its lead programs included PPL-100, a potent HIV-1 protease inhibitor designed to overcome drug resistance, and long-acting formulations of octreotide for endocrine disorders. Despite advancing several candidates into clinical trials, the company faced significant financial challenges and eventually filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009. Its assets were subsequently liquidated or sold to other pharmaceutical entities.
