The Amsterdam BioTherapeutics Unit (AmBTU) is a specialized biotechnology and manufacturing entity based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, co-founded by leading oncology researchers from the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital. The unit focuses on the development and GMP-compliant production of innovative, highly individualized immunotherapies, including Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs), T-cell receptor (TCR) modified T-cells, and DNA vaccines. AmBTU serves as a critical translational bridge, facilitating the transition of novel cell and gene therapies from academic research into clinical trials. It operates state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities and has established robust processes for small-scale, high-quality manufacturing of viral vectors and plasmid DNA.
