Amedis Pharmaceuticals was a Cambridge-based biotechnology company specializing in the application of organosilicon chemistry to drug discovery and development. Founded in 2000, the company developed a proprietary platform focused on "sila-substitution," which involves replacing specific carbon atoms in known drug molecules with silicon to improve their pharmacological properties, such as metabolic stability and potency. Amedis targeted therapeutic areas including central nervous system (CNS) disorders and hormone-related cancers. In 2005, the company was acquired by Paradigm Therapeutics, which was subsequently acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company in 2007.
