American Association for Emergency Psychiatry

The American Association for Emergency Psychiatry (AAEP) is a multidisciplinary professional organization dedicated to improving the care of patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies. It provides a collaborative forum for psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals to share clinical expertise and research. The association is widely recognized for developing the Project BETA (Best Practices in Evaluation and Treatment of Agitation) guidelines, which have standardized the management of acute agitation in emergency settings.
