American Healthcare Investors (AHI) was a prominent private real estate investment firm specializing in the healthcare sector, based in Irvine, California. The company focused on the acquisition and management of healthcare-related properties, including medical office buildings, senior housing, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals. AHI served as the sponsor and advisor for the Griffin-American Healthcare REIT series, overseeing a multi-billion dollar portfolio of assets across the United States and internationally. In October 2021, AHI was acquired by American Healthcare REIT (formerly Griffin-American Healthcare REIT IV) as part of a merger and internalization transaction. This move transitioned the management of the REIT's assets to an internal team, and the combined entity eventually listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
