Company intelligence / Profile preview
American Medical Instrument Holdings (AMIH) was a leading medical device holding company that specialized in the manufacture and distribution of specialty, single-use medical instruments. Formed in 2003 by the private equity firm RoundTable Healthcare Partners, the company operated through two primary business units: Inter-V (focused on interventional radiology, biopsy, and vascular access) and Surgical Specialties (focused on ophthalmic surgery and wound closure). AMIH's portfolio included well-known brands such as BioPince biopsy needles, Skater drainage catheters, and Sharpoint ophthalmic instruments. In March 2006, the company was acquired by Angiotech Pharmaceuticals for approximately $785 million, a move that provided Angiotech with a global sales force and extensive manufacturing capabilities.
