American Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), also known as American Pharmaceutical Distributors (APD), is a wholesale pharmaceutical distributor and manufacturer based in Waterford, Michigan. The company specializes in the distribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), generic drugs, and proprietary drug formulations to independent retail pharmacies across the United States. In May 2022, API was acquired by Wellgistics LLC, a subsidiary of Wellgistics Health, Inc. (NASDAQ: WGRX), to strengthen its product portfolio and supplier relationships. The company holds active licenses in 48 states and provides a wide range of bulk ingredients and finished dosage forms.
