American Respiratory Alliance

The American Respiratory Alliance (ARA) was a prominent non-profit healthcare organization based in Western Pennsylvania, dedicated to the prevention and control of lung disease. Originally established in 1906 as the Christmas Seal League of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the organization provided a wide range of community-based programs, patient education, and advocacy for respiratory health. Its primary focus areas included the management of chronic conditions such as asthma and COPD, as well as promoting tobacco cessation and clean air initiatives. The ARA also supported local research efforts and provided clinical resources to healthcare professionals and patients alike. In 2010, the organization merged with the American Lung Association to consolidate resources and enhance its public health impact across the region.
