American Retirement Corporation was a leading national provider of senior living and healthcare services, headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee. The company operated a diverse portfolio of senior housing communities, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities, often marketed under the 'Freedom Series' brand. Its business model focused on providing a continuum of care for the elderly, ranging from lifestyle-oriented housing to intensive medical support. In July 2006, the company was acquired by Brookdale Senior Living in a deal valued at approximately $1.2 billion. This merger created one of the largest senior living providers in the United States at the time.
