Company intelligence / Profile preview
AMICARE Development GmbH is a German biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapeutic and preventive measures for vascular calcification and cardiorenal diseases, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Founded by researchers from the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Cardiorenal Disease (AMICARE), the company's lead program is based on the vasoconstriction-inhibiting factor (VIF) peptide, an endogenous chromogranin A-derived peptide. VIF acts as a calcimimetic for the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), reducing calcium influx, reactive oxygen species production, and vascular smooth muscle cell apoptosis to inhibit vascular calcification. AMICARE Development is translating these pre-clinical findings into targeted peptide-based therapies to address the high cardiovascular risk in CKD patients.
