Company intelligence / Profile preview
Amniotics was a Swedish biotechnology company specializing in the development of cell therapies derived from amniotic fluid. The company utilized a proprietary collection and selection process to harvest neonatal mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from full-term deliveries, which are characterized by higher proliferation and lower immunogenicity compared to adult-derived cells. Their lead candidate, PulmoStem, was being evaluated for inflammatory and fibrotic lung diseases, including ARDS and COVID-19. Despite promising early-stage clinical progress, the company faced significant financial challenges and filed for bankruptcy in June 2024.
