Overview

Ampio advanced its lead biologic Ampion through Phase 1–3 trials for severe osteoarthritis of the knee and exploratory studies in COVID-19, kidney disease, and pediatric inflammatory diseases, but its pivotal AP-013 Phase 3 trial in osteoarthritis failed to meet the primary endpoint and multiple COVID-19 studies were negative, leading to discontinuation of Ampion development, delisting from NYSE American, Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in late 2023, and a shift to exploring strategic alternatives without any approved products.[1][3][5]
