Amrad

Amrad was a prominent Australian biotechnology company dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative biopharmaceuticals, particularly in the fields of inflammation and oncology. Established in 1986 to commercialize research from premier Australian medical research institutes, the company built a significant portfolio of cytokine-based therapies. Its most notable assets included monoclonal antibodies targeting the GM-CSF receptor and the IL-13 receptor. In 2005, the company rebranded as Zenyth Therapeutics before being acquired by CSL Limited in 2006 for approximately $128 million AUD. The acquisition allowed CSL to integrate Amrad's specialized research capabilities and promising clinical pipeline into its global operations.
