Amura Holdings

Amura Holdings, primarily known through its operating entity Amura Therapeutics, was a UK-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule drugs targeting the protease enzyme family. The company utilized a proprietary drug discovery platform to design highly selective, reversible inhibitors of cathepsins, which play critical roles in bone resorption and inflammatory signaling. Its lead clinical candidate, AM-3876, was a Cathepsin K inhibitor that reached Phase 1 trials for the treatment of osteoporosis. Amura also maintained a robust preclinical pipeline, including Cathepsin S inhibitors for autoimmune conditions like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, supported by a partnership with UCB. Despite its innovative approach to protease inhibition and significant venture backing, the company ceased operations and was dissolved in 2013.
