Anadys Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule medicines for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and other serious diseases. The company's lead product candidate, setrobuvir (ANA598), was a potent non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor that demonstrated significant viral load reduction in Phase 2 clinical trials. Anadys also developed ANA773, an oral prodrug of a Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist designed to stimulate the body's innate immune system to fight viral infections and cancer. In 2011, the company was acquired by Roche to strengthen its portfolio of HCV treatments and expand its presence in the antiviral market. At the time of acquisition, Anadys was recognized for its specialized expertise in nucleoside and non-nucleoside chemistry.
