Company intelligence / Profile preview
Anaquest was a specialized pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and commercialization of inhalation anesthetics and perioperative medications. As a division of the BOC Group's Ohmeda healthcare business, it became a leader in the field of anesthesiology, most notably through the development of Suprane (desflurane). The company's portfolio also included other widely used agents such as Forane (isoflurane) and Ethrane (enflurane), which set industry standards for surgical anesthesia. In 1998, the pharmaceutical operations of Ohmeda, including Anaquest, were acquired by Baxter International for approximately $525 million. This acquisition integrated Anaquest's market-leading anesthetic gases into Baxter's global anesthesia and critical care portfolio.
