Company intelligence / Profile preview
Andromeda Biotech was an Israeli biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapies for autoimmune diseases, with a primary emphasis on Type 1 Diabetes. The company's lead product candidate, DiaPep277, was a synthetic peptide designed to modulate the immune system and preserve the function of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Andromeda was a subsidiary of Clal Biotechnology Industries before being acquired by Hyperion Therapeutics in 2014. However, the acquisition and the company's reputation were later severely impacted by allegations of data manipulation in the DiaPep277 clinical trials, leading to the termination of the program.
