Angioblast

Angioblast Systems was a clinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in the development of regenerative medicine products using adult stem cells. The company's core technology focused on a specific population of highly purified Mesenchymal Precursor Cells (MPCs) isolated from bone marrow, which were designed to treat a variety of cardiovascular, orthopedic, and inflammatory conditions. Its lead candidate, Revascor, was developed as an off-the-shelf cellular therapy for patients with congestive heart failure and heart muscle damage. In 2010, Angioblast was acquired by Mesoblast, an Australian regenerative medicine leader, to consolidate their intellectual property and clinical pipelines. The acquisition integrated Angioblast's US-based operations and its advanced MPC programs into Mesoblast's global portfolio. Today, the legacy of Angioblast's research continues through Mesoblast's late-stage clinical trials and commercialization efforts in cellular medicine.
