Angioenix

Angioenix was a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule angiogenesis inhibitors for oncology and ophthalmology. Founded on research from Children's Hospital Boston, the company specialized in creating analogs of 2-methoxyestradiol (2ME2) with improved potency and oral bioavailability. These compounds were designed to inhibit tumor growth and pathological blood vessel formation by targeting tubulin polymerization and the HIF-1α pathway. In June 2004, Angioenix was acquired by EntreMed, Inc., which integrated the company's library of anti-angiogenic agents into its clinical pipeline.
