AngioGenetics

AngioGenetics was a Swedish biotechnology company founded in 2001 that specialized in the discovery and development of drugs modulating angiogenesis. The company's research focused on identifying novel targets for blood vessel formation, most notably the Dll4 (Delta-like 4) ligand within the Notch signaling pathway, which plays a critical role in tumor vascularization. Headquartered in Gothenburg and closely linked with the Karolinska Institutet, AngioGenetics aimed to treat conditions such as cancer, ischemic heart disease, and eye diseases. In 2008, the company's intellectual property was acquired by BioInvent International AB to enhance their antibody pipeline, and AngioGenetics subsequently ceased operations, filing for bankruptcy in 2011.
