ANO Institute of Biomedical Research

The ANO Institute of Biomedical Research and Technology (ANO IBRT) is a Russian research organization based in Moscow that specializes in the development and testing of biomaterials, artificial organs, and tissue-engineered constructs. Founded in 2005, the institute is a prominent entity in the field of regenerative medicine, focusing on xenotransplantation and the creation of biocompatible scaffolds for vascular and orthopedic applications. ANO IBRT gained international recognition through its partnership with Living Cell Technologies to conduct clinical trials for DiabeCell, a porcine islet cell therapy for Type 1 diabetes. The institute also operates an accredited laboratory for the biological and toxicological testing of medical devices, providing essential services for the regulatory approval of healthcare products in Russia. Its research activities are closely integrated with the Shumakov National Medical Research Center for Transplantology and Artificial Organs.
