Company intelligence / Profile preview
Antex Biologics was a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing vaccines and anti-infective products for the prevention and treatment of bacterial diseases. The company utilized its proprietary NutriVax and Activax platforms to identify antigens that are only expressed by bacteria when they are inside a human host, providing a more effective target for vaccine development. Its lead clinical programs included vaccines for Helicobacter pylori, which causes ulcers and stomach cancer, and Campylobacter, a leading cause of foodborne illness. Antex also maintained research programs for Shigella and respiratory infections like otitis media. In 2003, the company was acquired by BioPort Corporation, which subsequently became Emergent BioSolutions.
