Antisoma was a prominent British biotechnology company that specialized in the development of novel cancer therapies. The company operated using a "search and develop" business model, where it in-licensed promising drug candidates from academic institutions and other biotech firms to advance them through clinical trials. Its most significant programs included ASA404 (vadimezan), a vascular disrupting agent (VDA) partnered with Novartis, and AS1411, a first-in-class DNA aptamer targeting nucleolin. Following the failure of its lead candidates in Phase 3 clinical trials between 2010 and 2011, the company ceased its drug development activities and transitioned into an investment vehicle, eventually renaming itself Sarossa Capital.
