Anzamune

Anzamune was a New Zealand-based biotechnology company focused on developing immunomodulators for the treatment of allergies and infectious diseases. The company's proprietary technology utilized chitin microparticles (CMP), a naturally derived polysaccharide, to stimulate the innate immune system and restore the balance between Th1 and Th2 immune responses. Anzamune successfully advanced its lead CMP candidate into Phase II clinical trials for allergic rhinitis and explored its potential in asthma and as an enhancer of immunity against viral and bacterial pathogens. The company was active in the mid-2000s and was associated with the UK-based CMP Therapeutics before ceasing operations around 2012.
