AP Cells

AP-Cells was a Swiss biotechnology company focused on the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies, specifically therapeutic vaccines for metastatic melanoma. A spin-off of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), the company pioneered the use of irradiated allogeneic melanoma cells and exosome-based technologies to stimulate the immune system against tumor-specific antigens. Its lead clinical program involved a multi-antigen vaccine targeting MAGE-A3 and other melanoma-associated antigens, which reached Phase 2 clinical trials. Although the company was dissolved in 2010, its foundational work in antigen presentation and cell-based vaccines significantly influenced subsequent developments in the field of immuno-oncology.
