Apache Medical Systems was a healthcare informatics company specializing in clinical decision support and risk-adjustment methodologies for intensive care units (ICUs). The company was best known for developing and commercializing the APACHE (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation) scoring systems, which became a global standard for predicting hospital mortality and benchmarking ICU performance. Their software solutions integrated physiological data with patient history to provide clinicians with risk-adjusted outcomes and resource management tools. In 2002, the company was acquired by Cerner Corporation to enhance Cerner's critical care clinical information systems. The APACHE methodology remains one of the most widely cited and utilized severity-of-illness classification systems in medical literature.
