Apeiron Respiratory Therapeutics (AResT) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing recombinant protein therapies for severe respiratory diseases. A subsidiary of invIOs GmbH, the company was formed to advance the development of APN01 (alunacedase alfa), a soluble recombinant human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (rhACE2). APN01 utilizes a dual mechanism of action: it acts as a decoy receptor to neutralize viruses like SARS-CoV-2 and regulates the renin-angiotensin system to protect organs from inflammatory damage.
