Apelles Investment was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing innovative therapies for dermatological conditions, specifically autoimmune-driven hair loss and skin disorders. The company's primary focus was the development of Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, including ATI-50001 and ATI-50002, which target JAK1 and JAK3 pathways. In October 2017, Apelles was acquired by Aclaris Therapeutics to bolster its pipeline in medical dermatology. The acquisition integrated Apelles' JAK inhibitor assets into Aclaris' portfolio for the treatment of alopecia areata and other inflammatory skin diseases. These assets were originally licensed from Rigel Pharmaceuticals and represented a significant expansion of Aclaris' immunology capabilities.
