Company intelligence / Profile preview
Apex Bioventures Acquisition Corp. was a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) focused on the healthcare and life sciences industries. Founded in 2007, the company was designed to identify and merge with a high-potential biopharmaceutical or medical technology firm. Its most notable activity was a proposed $98 million merger with Dynogen Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage company developing treatments for gastrointestinal and genitourinary disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome and overactive bladder. The deal ultimately collapsed in late 2008 due to a lack of stockholder approval, and Apex Bioventures subsequently liquidated and dissolved in 2009. The firm was led by experienced healthcare executives and was publicly traded on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol PEX.
