Apidel SA was a Swiss biotechnology company specializing in the development of advanced drug delivery systems, specifically sustained-release injectable formulations. The company's core technology utilized proprietary biodegradable polymers to encapsulate active pharmaceutical ingredients, enabling controlled release over extended periods ranging from weeks to months. Founded as a spin-off from the University of Geneva, Apidel focused on enhancing the therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance of small molecules and peptides. In March 2014, the company was acquired by Flamel Technologies, which later rebranded as Avadel Pharmaceuticals. The acquisition integrated Apidel's polymer-based platform into Flamel's portfolio of drug delivery solutions, complementing existing technologies like Medusa and Micropump.
