Applied Bioplastics has developed and commercialized plant-based polymers that replace up to 30% of petrochemical content in plastics. Their materials have been used in large-scale applications such as building materials for refugee shelters and are currently being trialed by the United Nations. The technology can reduce CO2 emissions from plastic manufacturing by up to 97% compared to traditional methods.

Their biocomposites are less expensive than commodity plastics while maintaining or improving physical properties and integrate seamlessly with existing industry equipment.
