Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation (API) is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit life sciences commercialization organizations. It bridges the gap between academic research and industry by providing end-to-end support for drug development—including pharmaceuticals & biologics, medical devices & diagnostics, natural health products, and health technologies. API offers fee-for-service support as a CDMO/CRO and helps startups/SMEs with regulatory compliance under GxP guidelines. The company leads major initiatives such as the Canadian Critical Drug Initiative (CCDI) and the construction of the Critical Medicines Production Centre (CMPC), which will provide GMP-certified phase III/commercial-scale manufacturing capacity in Canada by 2026. API collaborates closely with academic institutions like the University of Alberta to foster innovation in drug discovery and supply chain resilience.
