Aravive was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapies for highly aggressive diseases, particularly in oncology. The company's lead candidate, batiraxcept (formerly AVB-500), was a high-affinity decoy receptor designed to inhibit the GAS6-AXL signaling pathway, which is implicated in tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance. Despite promising early data, the company's pivotal Phase 3 AXLerate-OC trial in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer failed to meet its primary endpoint in 2023. Following this setback and subsequent financial challenges, Aravive announced a plan to liquidate and dissolve the company in early 2024. Its primary focus had been on addressing unmet needs in difficult-to-treat cancers through the modulation of the GAS6/AXL axis.
