Archemix

Archemix was a biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of therapeutic aptamers—synthetic oligonucleotides that bind protein targets with high specificity and affinity. Its most advanced proprietary candidate, ARC1779, reached Phase 2 for thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA), and ARC19499, a subcutaneous anti-TFPI aptamer for hemophilia, reached Phase 1. Archemix also out-licensed its technology, enabling multiple partners to develop aptamer candidates across various indications. The company was acquired by Baxter for its hemophilia-related assets in 2010, and its remaining assets and partnerships were subsequently wound down.
