Ares Advanced Technology

Ares Advanced Technology was the primary North American research and development subsidiary of Ares-Serono, a global leader in the biotechnology industry. The company specialized in the application of recombinant DNA technology to develop complex protein therapeutics for high-unmet-need areas such as neurology, endocrinology, and reproductive health. Its research efforts were instrumental in the development and manufacturing scale-up of major biopharmaceutical products, including Rebif for multiple sclerosis and Gonal-f for infertility. Following the acquisition of Ares-Serono by Merck KGaA in 2007, Ares Advanced Technology's operations were integrated into EMD Serono, forming the core of Merck's biopharmaceutical presence in the United States.
