Company intelligence / Profile preview
Ariosa Diagnostics was a U.S.-based molecular diagnostics company focused on non-invasive prenatal screening using cell-free DNA analysis. Its flagship commercial product, the Harmony Prenatal Test, screened maternal blood samples as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy to assess risk for common fetal chromosomal abnormalities, including trisomies 21, 18, and 13. The company operated a CLIA laboratory and positioned its service as an accurate, accessible prenatal screening option. Ariosa was acquired by Roche in December 2014, and Roche later sold the U.S. Ariosa centralized laboratory prenatal testing business to BioReference Laboratories in August 2021. The company is best understood as a historically important prenatal molecular diagnostics business rather than an independent operating biotech today.
