The company is best known for the development of benfluorex, a drug marketed for diabetes and weight loss, and suriclone, a cyclopyrrolone anxiolytic. Founded in 1919 by Jean-Claude Aron, the firm established a significant presence in the French pharmaceutical landscape before being acquired by the Servier Group in 1968.
