Historically known as one of the "Big Eight" accounting firms, it was a pioneer in providing specialized financial, auditing, and strategic consulting services to early-stage biotech companies such as Genentech and Amgen. The firm was particularly noted for its influential annual "Arthur Young Biotech Report," which served as the industry's definitive analysis during the 1980s. In 1989, Arthur Young merged with Ernst & Whinney to form Ernst & Young (now EY), which continues to maintain a leading global practice in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
