Artisan Biomed

Artisan Biomed is a South African precision medicine and genomics company founded as a spin-off from the Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR). The company commercialized molecular profiling, next-generation sequencing, and data interpretation services for clinical diagnostics and precision health applications in Africa. Its offerings have included genomic testing and clinical interpretation capabilities that support areas such as prenatal testing and other DNA-based diagnostic services. In 2022, Mediclinic Southern Africa acquired a controlling stake in Artisan Biomed and used the business as the basis for Mediclinic Precise, a precision diagnostics offering within the Mediclinic ecosystem. The business appears to remain active operationally, but under the Mediclinic Precise branding rather than as an independent standalone biotech drug developer.
