Overview
Ascendance Biomedical was a controversial biohacking biotech startup that sought to democratize access to experimental biomedical technologies by bypassing traditional regulatory processes. The company gained notoriety through public self-experimentation with unapproved gene therapies targeting herpes and HIV/AIDS.
